COURSES IN THE DEPARTMENT
DIPLOMA IN FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGEMENT
DIPLOMA IN CATERING AND ACCOMMODATION MANAGEMENT
The diploma programmes expose trainees to the operational intricacies of running a hospitality establishment. They also expose them to the supervisory and management areas necessary to equip them with management skills. Within the three-year modules, the trainees are exposed to an intense, all-round kind of training to prepare them for work in the hospitality industry.
To acquire a diploma in these courses, one has to take three modules and each module runs for three terms. At the end of each module, the trainee is expected to sit for the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) examination before proceeding to the next module.
Those applying for these courses must have a mean grade of C- (minus) at KCSE OR either Certificate in Food and Beverage Production, Service and Sales OR Craft Certificate in Catering and Accommodation Operations. Admission for module one is done in May and modules two and three in September.
